I generally install all the new patches from Windows Update site.I recently installed the 811493 security vulnerbility patch on Win XP SP1 (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;[LN];811493). The installation of the patch went smoothly. But after rebooting I noticed that my system had slowed down. Even Winamp started to skip when playing MP3's and other applications started taking almost double the time to load.Later on some of the forums and in the updated bulletin I read that the patch has been causing slowdowns in some computers running Win XP SP1 and Microsoft is working quickly to resolve the issue ( yeah right, the quickest they can come out is by the year 2020). So i decided to uninstall the patch. That also proceeded smoothly and upon rebooting, Windows BSODed. I reinstalled the patch in Safe mode and rebooted, and Windows worked perfect. After that I removed it again, and again during the next boot, Windows BSOD'ed. Now after installing the patch for the 3rd time and rebooting, Windows is working. But now the slowdowns are much more pronounced. Winamp 2 takes almost 8 secs to load, while it used load within 2 secs previously. Can anybody tell me on how to remove the patch safetly short of a reinstall ?

Thanks
