BSEL0 and BSEL1

Senior member
there are 2 pins on the 478 chips that are named BSEL0 and BSEL1. i think BSEL0 is the pin that tells the board that the bus is 100mhz, and BSEL1 is the pin that tells the board that its a 133mhz bus.

i was wondering that if you had a motherboard that could not be overclocked(dell), could you actually break the BSEL0 off? would the chip automatically default to 133mhz bus?

I wouldn't attempt it, Dell's are notoriously untweakable....

Here's a guy who claims you can do just that. There's even a nice diagram showing which pins need to be isloated (or broken off, if you're rich) to get it to work.

DISCLAIMER: I haven't tried this, nor would I. Whatever you do is at your own risk. IF I wanted to OC and was stuck with a board that had no ability to do it I'd jsus buy a new board. YMMV.
