Ok, 3 terms here -
BSCS = the classic accredited computer science degree, math heavy, extra physics/chem
BsCiS = Heavier on database/web dev some data mining, almost same core classes as BSCS
BCS = same as BsCiS as the BsCIS is phased out, maybe potentially different minors options, but same core.
I'm finishing up my BsCiS (Bachelor of science in Computer information Systems), with 5 classes to go. However if I add one or 2 classes, I can get BCS (bachelor of computer science) instead -it's a new option started this year, with bscis going away).
My question is, do people in the software world think BsCIS is like a business degree or a programming degree? I am taking same classes for the most part as the accredited BSCS (like the datastructures/os/alg) but CiS has less calculus/chem classes and more database/web.
Is it worth it to take one more class (to satisfy a design minor req) to get BCS - even though BCS is still not accredited like BSCS is?
