So I went down the shore on Saturday. Parking was non-exsistant.

After driving 10 blocks away from the shore-front-parking lots, I actually found a space. White lines drawn, no fire hydrant, no fire zone, .... It was like god came down and granted me a parking space after one hour of searching.

To make a long story short, I get back to my car around 6pm and find a parking ticket. My offense was "9-3 parking prohibited".

That's not the kicker.... the hand held computer generated ticket has a time stamp of 3:15pm. How can I get cited for 9-3 parking prohibited offense when the damn citation was written at 3:15pm?!?!?

That timestamp should help you contest the ticket. Good luck.

Why is parking prohibited between 9 and 3 to begin with???

Obviously all business should be shut down during this time as well.

My guess would be it was a permitted slot and the OP didn't have a permit.

The parking space was on a public road. Just outside I guess what looked like a private school.

The ticket has a "first observed" note on it which was left blank. Dumb cop.

We require pics of said parking space to help us identify why the tickey might have been placed. Look up the street, look down the street. If there are no signs clearly posted saying you can't park there, and the ticket itself states that it was after 3pm, then take it to the municipal building immediately and find out WTF is going on.

Why would they mark his car if he was apparently already in violation? Why not write the citation right then and there instead of waiting until it would be apparently "legal" for him to park there?

We are missing something here. I mean, unless the officer who cited you cited each and every car down the row shortly before 3 and knew you were there before 3, there is no reason to write it at 3:15. Let alone the part where there is apparently a time frame for parking there.

Does it provide you with a way to contest the ticket?

Actually it only provieds me a way to not contest the ticket. If I don't pay, then I must show up for court on June 6th to contest it. I think ill be paying more for gas just to fight the 50 dollar fine.

Though it's the princible of the thing. But the cops know they have you're butt unless you show up for court even though how badly their judgement was. What does the cop have to lose? They all ready have to ride a 5 year-olds-bike making 30k a year with no over time.

One possibility is that there was a line of cars all parked illegally, and it took the cop some time to get to the OP's car. The "first observed" line he mentioned on the ticket is probably only used for timed parking spots.

Well if it's about the principle, you were parked there during the restricted times weren't you? You just didn't get a ticket until later.

Get real. It was a public street on a saturday on memorial day week end.

The cop knew it was going to be the #1 revenue maker for their piss ant town where tourism was going to be high.
