BS or NOT BS? LuminLabs LCD DIY Projector

It's not BS, but brand name projectors are far smaller and generally offer better image quality & more options. On the other hand, these are much cheaper and don't require bulb replacements nearly as frequently - and when they do, the bulbs are much less expensive.

Yup, I built one and sold it to someone here on the B/S/T forum. It's a fun project, to be sure, but nowadays you can buy a projector for just a little bit more that's more portable, has better picture quality (especially contrast), and is a lot more durable.

Hmmm How much were you able to sell it for? I may be thinking about selling mine and saving up for a infocus 4805

im happy with my store-bought 4805, im sure it would be an interesting experience, but i dunno if its worth it.

Well did you use the lcd one or a cheap frensel lenses?

I used a Liliput 7 inch LCD with some pretty good fresnel lenses. I'll get a pic of the overall design in a min.

search google for DIY projectors. Most sites will tell you to buy an lcd screen and an overhead projector. Should run around $200 for the whole setup.

This seems interesting....can anyone who has done it upload some pics or more info? What is the cost of one of these?
