There are so many specializations within EE, it is mindblowing. Here are the ones at my univ, which is a good engineering school but no where near the best, and these are just undergrad:

- Telecommunications
- Analog and Digital Electronic
- Electromagnetics
- Transmission Technology
- Electro-optics
- Information Processing
- Optoelectronics and Photonics
- Computer Networks
- Computer Architecture
- Microprocessors
- Neural Networks
- Signal Processing
- Automated Control Systems
- Robotics
- Medical Devices
- Power Systems
- Electron Devices
- Laser Technology
- Remote Sensing
- Artificial Intelligence

The ceo of Motorola is a EE...

EE is a good engineering background...from there, you could go into management, patent law, etc. Lots of positions are just 'designing chips and boards'...there are quality/reliability jobs, etc.

I recommend you cruise Monster, Hotjobs, and the classified ads to see the wide range of ee jobs there are.
