BS bad beat in poker yesterday

z0mb13

Lifer
so I played a 2/4 limit hold em game yesterday..

this one dude was playing blind five times and he won three of them!

ok then fast forward to this one hand, he played blind again and I was in the big blind with k 3 offsuit. so I called to the flop.

The flop came K 3 10 all different suits, so I got two pair on the flop. of course I was feeling very good especially since he played that hand blind! but he kept raising me, and I kept raising him since I knew I had him beat.

fourth came up blank (forgot what it was but didnt help either of us), then in the river it came 10. so I was sure I had the top two pair, so I kept betting all the way and he kept calling.

so he flipped over one card, it was a j (didnt help).. then he flipped over his second card.. and it was a FREAKING TEN! WTF ARGHHHHH and it was a huge pot too... 🙁

then in the river it came 10. so I was sure I had the top two pair

there's your mistake. In a normal game, you should worry that you might not have the best hand anymore, cuz all he needs is a 10 to have 3 of a kind

But in this case, if he was playing blind and he still bet like crazy against you and won, well that's just plain weird.

yes he was still playing blind!!

well, hindsight being 20/20 you should have stopped the betting on the river when the 2nd 10 came out. pot odds likely didn't favor you very well at that point tho I don't know how everyone else played.

could be worse, it coulda been 10/20 hold em

my friend got a bad beat
he had QQQQ and the other guy had AAAKK
my friend won 11G and the other guy got 18G
tats harder to do than a Royal Flush

The other guy qualified for the bad beat jackpot at whereever they were playing.

It happens when you lose a really good hand to a better one. Usually the requirements are aces full or quads.

yep this looks like the bad beat jackpot

I think the worst beat I've seen (in person, that is) was a friend's 6-high four of a kind losing to another friend's 9-high four of a kind. That was great. The trash-talk lasted for days.

That's half of poker - luck. People get beat with pocket Ace's or A/K all the time. It happens.

is true. But still makes you wonder why he called with nothing?

Bad beat?

Me: preflop all in (short stack: A3 off
Caller 1: A7off
Caller 2: JJ

Flop: 10 J 10

Caller 2 goes all in
Caller 1 calls

Turn: 10
River: 10

LoL. 4 of a kind 10s with an ACE kicker wins. I split pot and stay alive.

In my opinion, limit is weak. I mean limit has complexities and there's a lot you can do, but there's only so much you can do. No limit is just art. There are so many tricks and turns in no limit that make it truly sex.

I've said it before, and will say it again. As a good player, bad beats are good for you. That means you have found a profitable table. Your bankroll may take some swings, but in the long run, you will come out ahead. When they happen, make sure to give the fish some form of praise. If you talk down to them, they might actually learn something about poker.

Either that, or his friend was all in and won the main pot, but the other guy won the side pot.

I hate it when people call things sex or sexy. You sound like paris hilton

Bingo. I've learned this lesson over the past month or so. The suckouts aren't as bad when you remember that in the long run they pay you off. I always tell them nice hand or praise them. As long as they're willing to keep playing stupid like that I'll happily take the occasional bad beat.
