I just bought a CoolerMaster ATC201 to house my new machine. I am quite enamored with its style, and I would hate to ruin the aesthetics with beige CDROM and floppy bezels. After all, the arstechnica review implied that this case could get me chicks!
Seriously though, does anyone know of a source for floppy drives with brushed aluminim face plates, or some kind of add-on bezel made of brushed aluminum to hide the beige?
Similarly, is anyone aware of similar offerings for DVDROMs and CDRWs? I found several sites detailing ways to paint a metallic look on to the front of the drive, but I would rather avoid that because:
a) paint can scratch
b) if I sold the DVDROM or CDRW then the buyer would likely not like a metallic painted drive. I could scratch it off, but then they probably would not want a scratched faceplace either...
A friend suggested I take the face plates that come with the case and simply cut holes in them for the CD-Tray or Floppy to pass through. Of course the button is a problem there. I like this solution, except I don't have metal working skills 🙂 Can anyone offer advice here?
What I am really looking for is some kind of facade like you see in consumer PCs made my HP/Compaq/etc to hide the drive behind an attractive aluminum face. I think black plastic instead of beige might also be a suitable substitute, but I'd prefer aluminum. Can anyone offer any advice?
