I've always planned on being close to home for college..but that didn't work out, so I'm going to be at UCLA!

So, make me excited!

What should I know about UCLA?

It's really close to Mt. Saint Mary's ... :D mmmmm... girls...mmmmmm... but that's if the billions of girls at UCLA aren't enough...

- Westwood kicks ass
- Lots of cool homeless people
- More asians than, well, Asia
- Movie premieres at the Bruin or Fox every week
- UCLA has the best parking situation ever. (Hint: Don't bring a car)
- Awesome football team. Look at their recent record against USC. :p ;)
- Lots of stuff to do near campus

-if you like stalking celebs your at the right place!
-everyweek theres a new high speed car chase!
-it only costs $600 to share a room outside of the dorms!
-most dorm rooms are triples!

-theyve got one of the best dorm food in the nation (true)

one of the top athletic programs in the country! (don't believe this past year with the bball team... they were an absolute aberration)

best dorm food.

one of the best schools in the nation (ranked 25)

you're one smart guy - this year's class had an avg gpa 4.23 and sat of 1333

tons of interesting classes you can take, in and out of your major.

movie stars (john lithgow wanders around with his dogs a lot), movie premieres, good restaurants, and you're in LA where everything happens.

Beautiful ladies.
Beautiful weather.
Westwood Village is cool.
Santa Monica is cool.
Close to the beach (a few minutes, driving).
A couple of hours away from the local mountains for skiing (though I don't think anybody would call the "world class").
Celebrity sightings on campus and nearby (some are students, sometimes there are shoots on campus or in the surrounding areas - John Lithgow's (3rd Planet from the Sun) wife is History faculty). Jaleal White (Erkel), Tori Spelling, the Blossom actress were all students when I was in school.
If you like to look at fancy cars, Southern California in general is pretty good (Santa Barbara, West LA, Newport). BMWs, Benz's are a dime a dozen.
If you like ethnic food:
- Not to far from Korea Town, China Town (+ Monterey Park, etc), Little Tokyo.
- Good Mexican isn't hard to find in Southern California.
- Soul Food, Indian Food, Persian, etc..
Lots of Asian's, especially south campus, but no shortage of beautiful girls of other ethnicities either.

Don't listen to your OC during orientation. Take 4 classes during your first quarter.

If you're an enginner, join ESUC so you can get lotsa free printing and access to the computer lab.

That's a good start. I'll let someone else continue since I gotta get to class...
