Looks like a PR maneuver from Willis.

It's a universally known fact that Willis is a huge douche nozzle to his Hollwood peers and outside community (especially media, though a bit less so to fans).

Seems like his asshole persona has finally caught up to him as the quality of projects he's receiving from the powers that be have been really subpar.

Well, I'd like to be less cynical than the others here and call it a good move..

Like being a douche nozzle to Hollywood and the media is something to be sorry about. Hell half those fuckwads think you're a piece of shit if you don't bow down and worship them.

I think he just plain doesn't care. Not like he needs money, but at the same time if they're willing to offer millions not like I'd turn them down. I'd halfass it too so maybe they'd stop offering. He's made enough movies to have a lasting legacy, so not like he needs to care about that either. It's not like he's ever going to be Daniel Day Lewis, and he probably doesn't want to be around people that take acting that seriously. I wouldn't, even if I like the results (for every actor that can perform to the level that being that serious is worth it, there's probably a thousand that just make being on set a fucking nitemare).

Nice of him to pick up the tab; he saved the taxpayers some major dough. The taxpayers currently pay for all wildland firefighters' meals. If you've never seen a fire camp, the catering operation is one of the more impressive logistical feats in this world. Roll up on a an empty field with no water, no power, no waste disposal, no nothing but sort of flat ground and within an hour or two start serving hot meals for up to two thousand people.

Pics of one caterer here.

I take it you've never been in the military? Some of the fire that the guys feeding me had to risk, wasn't flames! Now that's impressive.

He may be a douche, but he sure is a great actor. Love all the movies he plays in.

I'd agree about his older work, up until the first RED (2010) or maybe Looper (2012).

He's seemed either tired, bored or on heavy meds the last couple I've seen. To me he was the worst actor in RED 2. With Looper it might have been intentional since it sort of matched the character he was playing and could have been caused by the time travel and overlapping timelines.

Kevin Smith has publicly called him an asshole and I've heard many other say much the same.

He may not be the kind of actor that gets attention from the Academy but he's as good as anyone at the kind of roles he plays. So, maybe not the greatest actor but certainly a very good one.

Righties like to bow to him because he's known to be a righty himself. Whether it's a publicity move or not catering a meal for hundreds of firefighters is a good dead in my book.

There is no beaver creek fire right now (which encroached Sun Valley, Idaho, in 2013) so this is likely 2+ years old. Also, Willis was simply a much better business man with his money than the more laughable decision of Schwarzenegger, who also has property in Sun Valley and hired his own private fire fighting crew to save his property, should the fire have come closer to his neighborhood by crossing route 75 in Ketchum, ID. However, the fire was contained and didn't cross over, so Arnold's money was lost and Willis' money still earned a lot of goodwill...even two years later, apparently.

I actually liked Red and Red 2 myself *shrug*

I heard the very opposite.

Probably depends on who they are speaking to.

I know William Shatners nephew, even was invited to the house and drank out of wine glasses he bought for them at their wedding.

He even says he can be a major asshole, probably depends on who he is speaking with.

If Bruce thinks your an idiot, he will probably treat you like your an idiot.

Kevin Smith has publicly called him an asshole and I've heard many other say much the same.

In Kevin Smith's book, he says Bruce wanted to publicly fight him on the set only b/c Kevin, towards the end of the project, finally tried to Direct HIS film in which, every day, Bruce publicly humiliated/disrespected him by calling the shots on set... ad-libbing lines/inventing scenes that weren't in the script, treating staff horribly, etc....and getting away with it, with nobody calling him out on this.

It was as if Kevin didn't exist as a Director. Smith said it was a day-to-day nightmare of epic proportions where he's never witnessed an entity whose career he respected so much treat him as such a non-being.

Bruce is a fucking asshole bully and he definitely wouldn't do that shit if James Cameron or Clint Eastwood was the Director. You can bank on that. :colbert:
