Hello,
I use my laptop in a cafe with a connection. It's been fine for years. The cafe hasn't changed its setting.
The wireless connection status shows a very strong connection, and there is not doubt, I'm connected, but nothing seems to be able to connect to the net.
I can't connect through Firefox or IE, Itunes can't connect, Skype can 't. Nothing can.

Even when I turn off windows firewall, I still can't connect. Stll the connection is showed as very strong. I have the full 54mbps. Even when I disable all the anti virus software and anti spyware I have I just can't connect. I just don't get it. I'm using Window XP Pro pack 2
Help!
Phil

Do you have wireless at home? Can you get on teh internet at home via wireless?

The fact that nothing can get online means that something got screwed up. What have you installed recently? It could be the culprit.

Is it possible that you got new wireless drivers from Windows Update? I know that when I was running Vista the first time, it told me I needed a new wireless driver (at this point Apple hadn't released drivers for Vista) so I installed them. Post restart no internet at all. So I rolled the driver back and I was online again.

Hum, I did made an update of all the drivers actually, and that might be it. How do I roll the driver back?

Right Click on My Computer, hit "Properties".

At the top of the window are the tabs, hit the "Hardware" tab.

You now see 4 buttons, arranged in a sideways T formation on the window. Press "Device Manager"

This will bring up a listing of the hardware on your machine in a nested tree arrangment, go ahead and find "Network Adapters" and expand it. Find your wireless card in the listings (should have 2-3 things in there at least. Wired, Wireless, Modem and Bluetooth if you have it should all end up there)

Once you find your Wireless card, right click on it and go to Properties. Go to the "Driver" tab, and then click the "Rollback Driver" button.
