Browser scaling, separate dimensions

I'm currently on a 3200x1800 screen and slightly annoyed by the fact that the wide screen dimension ratio makes less of a page get displayed vertically by browers and the like by default in landscape mode. I was wondering if one of the following is possible in windows 8 (ordered by preference):

- adjust the x and y dimensions of the scaling in a browser (I don't much care which) separately

- adjust the screen resolution to a narrower aspect ratio automatically as I switch to a browser program or app (my screen supports 2048x1536 and 1920x1200 for example)

- setup a browser by default so that a page is scaled to less than full screen horizontally

I ideally want the web-content to be compressed vertically so I can see more of it when the page is scaled to fullscreen horizontally. Is it possible?
