Browser Lagging

Maybe I can explain this so you can understand:

When I open a webpage the page will open but it lags 10-15 seconds.

The blue line that shows how much till complete will be full but just sits there.

Cannot close page or click on links till the lag is complete.

I am on DSL with Bellsouth: 1137 kbps.DOWN/217 kbps.UP
Running Duron 600@1000MHz.
Abit KT7-RAID
Internet Explorer 6.0
Windows ME
256 mb. SDRAM

Problem just started without installing or downloading anything new.

Thanks,
Jeff

You probably already know this but I'd thought I'd give it a shot:

Tools -> Internet Options -> Connections -> Lan settings -> Make sure the "Automatically detect settings" box is unchecked

Check the speed on your network connection. Try this link http://www.houston.rr.com/newCustomers.htm then click on "Speed Test"....with a DSL you should be hitting at least 1000 kbps

I looked and that is unchecked. I also tested the DSL today and the speeds are posted
in the original post, not blazing but not the problem.
