Hi,
I did a small search for it on the forums and didnt come up with anything so i'm posting here.

A wierd issue has started 2-3 weeks ago, whenever I log into forums.anandtech.com or any of the subforums/threads my browser gets stuck on "Waiting for tags.expo9.exponential.com". this happens in FF and Chrome.

to solve this I hit refresh but sometimes it takes 3-4 attempts.

anyone else know something about this?

ping to "tags.expo9.exponential.com" is alive (0% loss, 223ms)

tracert takes 23 hops and finally gets to "a.tribalfusion.com"

Just add "127.0.0.1(TAB)tags.expo9.exponential.com" to your C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts file.

Note that the hosts file DOES NOT have an extension, and you will need to run Notepad as Administrator to re-save the file back over itself in that directory.

I have nearly all of the ad/tracking hosts in my hosts file as 127.0.0.1 entries. (Localhost, prevents your PC from going out on the internet to connect to them.)

FYI admins, I was getting the same issue.

I'll add it in hosts as well, but thought you should know! :D

Actually it's not working; even though it's correctly in the hosts, and the url pings as 127.0.0.1, the same issue occurs.
I didn't restart the computer, though...

That didn't actually fix the issue. I installed an adblock instead. Fix your forums if you want ad revenue from me! :'(

This is exactly why i run adblock and flashblock. If you guys really cared about add revenue perhaps you should consider making the adds actually work.

The trouble with showing ads is: YOU CANT CONTROL THIER DELIVERY

The best way is to HOST YOUR OWN ADS (Then they always load) but i dont know any site that hosts the ads on THIER server.....

Ooo, that is a good idea. Thanks for this.

I am having this problem now also, on both IE and Firefox. Gets stuck on tags.expo9.exponential.com...

Basically stalls the loading of the page, but, if I click on another forum to load, the page pops up so I have to quickly go hit stop.

i really tried supporting and clicking on couple ads on this forum every now and then. But this tags.expo9.exponential.com delay was getting a bit ridiculous. Hosts file didn't work, so adblock it is.
