Brown spot

I was showering this morning and I just happened to notice a brown discoloration on my side near my waist. It is very light in color and is about the size of a silver dollar. It looks similar to a bruise but it isn't one. It's edges are not very defined.

Any ideas about what it could be? It could be a birthmark that I never noticed but I doubt it.....

Don't just say go to the doctor because I can't until I land a job(no insurance). I am a recent graduate from college without a job......

I would cut it off if it was raised. It is not a bump or anything. The skin is just discolored in the area.

No it isn't a hickey.....and no I am not going to cut my side off unless someone has a gun to my head.

Try hydrogen-peroxide on it....regular application for a few weeks. Might help, can't hurt.

Measure it daily and keep a log (no joke). Be as accurate as possible. If you notice a change in size, get an appointment with a demotologist.

you out in the sun alot? and other than the discoloration, any other signs like it being itchy or anything? really hard to say without having a doctor look at it.. if you were still in school, i would suggest you goto to the school health services (even a lowly CSU college like S.F. State University has one for students).. but aren't there free medical clinics for people that don't have insurance?

i'd definately keep an eye on it as Mrbond suggested and have it looked if it grows..

As for sun. I am as white as a ghost. If I go to the pool to swim or something I always put 50SPF sunblock on because I burn so easily. This is in an area that rarely sees the light of day

I will definately keep an eye on it. If I could land a f*cking job I could go to the doctor Too bad the economy is killing me right now.

Could just be a birthmark you've never noticed. sometimes those become more pronounced with age. probably not anything to worry about. If it gets darker and the edges get a little red . . .it could be bad. Like melanoma bad. White people are supposed to stay out of the sun. It's probably an anomoly. But keep an eye on it.
