I have had the Dire Straits album "Brothers in Arms" for years. You can probably find it in a good used CD shop for $4. It even has that great song "Money for Nothing." :D

LOL, that's what I thought at first--$35 for a Dire Straits CD? LOL.

Fry's Ad in So Cal has the game on sale for $34.99. I bought it last weekend at Fry's for $37.99... time for price adjustment. It's a fun game so far.

It isn't just another WW2 FPS. It is very different from Call of Duty. In BiA you can't just rush an enemy's position. You HAVE to use flanking tactics. So far I am enjoying it, but it is getting hard towards the end. I would say it has some issues, but it is a definite step in the right direction.

I also bought it last week for $37.99 at Fry's...

I haven't heard much about it. Having a LAN party this weekend just to play BF1942 and some of it's mods. (Pirates, DC, & 1918) Haven't seen anything WWII that has the same vehicular combat fun.

Went to go pricematch this Saturday to EBGames (bought from BB for $50) and found out that some time between when I called to check price @ 3:00pm and showed up at BB @ 7:00pm it went off sale, and the EBGames employees lost all knowledge that it had EVER been on sale. :disgust:

I do live in Phoenix area which has a Fry's though. Was that ad the Friday ad? Don't recall seeing it here. Might have to swing by on the way home from work...

I just got it the other day. It is not the bloodbath that Call Of Duty is, have not tried online either, but I like it so far. A more relaxed twist on WW2 games. Hopefully when my Dell 20" widescreen lcd gets here tomorrow, I can really enjoy it.

I didn't care for it, it was too..... strategic for me. I only played the first 20 minutes or so, but I like doing things my own way. I would think of this game more as a strategy FPS game. It's not like call of duty or anything where you can just run around on your own shooting up the place and whatnot. I tried that in this game and constantly got wounded badly.

My 4 major gripes about this game:

1. A plain old dot is unavailable for use as a crosshair. I hate having a huge ol' crosshair in the center of my screen a distraction and it just takes up space, a dot is nice and concise and to the point (no pun intended).

2. The on-screen weapons.... this is just a personal gripe, maybe because i'm spoiled by Joint Operations. The weapons are ok (even though you can't move as fast while aiming as you can when you're not aiming), but the whole big gun on the screen in the bottom right corner just takes up a huge amount of space on the screen. Like i said i don't know if its because i'm spoiled by JO, or if its just how the weapons looked somehow, just made it look tacky in a way.

3. Mouse sensitivity - This is limited in this game. If you are like me, and like to be able to spin around without having to move your mouse hardly, then you can forget about trying that in this game. You'll find yourself constantly moving your mouse around quite a bit, even at the highest mouse sensitivity setting (esp. when entering a large area where there may be baddies.)

4. One more thing: No peering around corners. I have been spoiled by JO which has this feature and it allows you to peer around a corner to see if there is a baddy across the way, and you can optionally shoot as well when looking around a corner. However, in this game, you cannot do that, you have to do it old school style and just sort of strafe, shoot, and strafe back.

But other than that, the game has some nice sequences and has realistic physics (especially in the beginning of the actual game itself, falling into the tree, then falling to the ground and whatnot). But because of the issues I had with the game, I uninstalled it within 20 minutes.

Joint Operations might be something you'll like, I used to play BF1942 all the time, but the day I got the JO demo on my PCGamer cd one month, I was hooked ever since. It has vehicles, helicopters, all the kind of stuff.

I played the beta for the JO expansion pack (Escalation), and from what I've seen when it was still in beta, it gave you new maps, ability to have motorbikes (those are really awesome), as well as tanks, and parachuting out of planes from above.

Just went to gamestop, it was 49.99 in store. I didn't print out an ad or anything, so I just said screw it. When I was walking out I saw SC: Pandora Tomorrow for $15 new. I picked that up instead and love it.

Thanks.
I just bought this at walmart last night but didn't open it yet because my roommate saw it Game Stop (locally).

Off to Wally world to return it. ;)
