Brother MFC8500 Laser fax/printer/scanner/copier $249.99+tax after PM and coupon at OM

YMMV, but I just did this yesterday. Picked up the 8500, normally 399.99. Frys has it advertised in their Friday flyer through 7/23 at 299.99. PM to Officemax, then use one of the many coupons that are floating around. I lucked out and was able to use a $50 off $250 coupon from the website. Final price was $270 and some change. Not bad overall. It is a nice multifunction laser, fast with decent print output. I needed a fax and a laser printer, so this will fit the bill quite nicely for the home office. Copier and scanner are really just a bonus, and I will probably still use my trusty flatbed for most things anyway. It will also work as a shared network printer when connected to a PC. Not sure how well it would function on a print server though.

I have a brother HL-1040 (laser printer). It's fast, and cheap, and nice (but only in the first 2 months). I suggest not buy 'Brother'.
