I just got a 1440 for about $70 AR from DELL, now I am curious about the memory. I want to get another 16 or 32mb of ram to bring this up to a respectable ram size (2MB is standard). I know it is a 72-pin simm, but thats about it. Crucial.com says $49.99 for a 32mb module but that seems crazy to me, I mean 512mb of DDR400 is $80!

Does anyone know the exact specs of the ram compatible with the 1440 so I can search for a good deal or do you know of a good place to get a stick?

Thanks!

Dell has a 32mb module for $27 so I just might get that.... anyone have any personal experience with this printer? any quirks that you know of? any good places to get cheap replacement toner?

I got this printer for my father about a year and a half ago. The printer recognizes a 64MB module (I dont know if it actually makes use of the extra memory or not but the printer configuration displays the full amount). I believe that this is the module I ordered Link.

Edit: Forgot to add that its only $10!

Thanks for that, just ordered it! $10 shipped is pretty nice, compared to that $49 32MB BS Crucial was trying to push.

On a side note, has your Dad enjoyed the printer? This will mainly be for my wife and her tons of papers she writes for school. My free okidata laser is pretty much dead so I needed a replacement.

He hasnt had any issues with the printer so far, but he doesnt print tons of stuff. He usually just prints emails, mapquest directions, and the occasional word document. I'm hoping that the toner wont need to be replaced for a long time :) .
