/venting of fustration with my brother

My mom called today to tell my dad and i that today she went to pick up my brother from his ex-girlfriend (i'm guessing they are not together anymore, i think you'll find out why...) and that the cops were there. My brother got into a fight with his ex and he threw a knife at her as she was running away. the knife broke a pane of glass and went THROUGH (not in, THROUGH) a wall and stuck 2 inches out. Then he ran and she's pressing charges on him. He's going to get attempted assault, since he didn't hit her, and he's currently running from the cops...

No it's not. It's a felony, but you're prosecuted by the state, not the federal government.

Edit: I should say murder is not normally a federal crime, as it depends on the particular circumstances.
