Broken ZIF socket lever...

Ok, so somehow I managed to snap off the level on my ZIF socket while it was up. Now I can put in the P4 but can't slide the socket to how it should be when the lever is in the closed position using my barehands or some force care of a screwdriver, as POST reporter keeps repeating that there's no CPU installed. Anyone ever run into this situation before and managed to fix it? Also, since I bought this from newegg, do you think they'd accept an RMA on it?

You could ask Newegg, and may get lucky.... My opinion is that if you broke it, you bought it. Send it back to the manufacturer and pay the repair fee.

It could have been a defect of the board...

My friend had an Asus board with his CPU stuck inside and the ZIF lever broken. They would only accept the RMA provided he remove the CPU himself first. Then he got the RMA and got it replaced.
