Broken xbox360

Long story short, my brother got my fathers old xbox360 and it would not read some disks(CODMW2 and some tiger woods golf game). Since he really wanted to play those games he thought there had to be something wrong with the disk drive. So he decides to open up the xbox with his friend and trys to clean it out with dust and stuff. He puts it back together.... getting 2 red lights aka overheating...I didnt even bother to look at it or rip it apart. He is now talking about scrapping the thing and just playing games on his computer though he probably paid around $135 for all the stuff he needed for it. So should we try to get this thing repaired? Anyone know of someone that will do it cheaply? Should we just scrap it and try to sell it and the HDD and other things?
 
some guarantee their work, or you can browse the fs/ft's here and other areas for a cheap already repaired console.
