broken pads and shims...

for a while now, the pads on the corners of my t-bird have been kinda torn up and my core is already quite chipped around the edges. I just got a new mb, so I took the rig apart and when I went to put the hsf back on, one of the pads was *missing* and I haven't been able to find it anywhere. So I ordered a shim thinking that I could use it for support instead, but what I'm wondering is should I still leave the 3 torn pads on there with the shim or would it be alright to take of the the remaining pads to use a shim.

I have installed several CPUs to hsfs, and the pads were not there at all. Did not use shims either. Just have to be careful. Hope this helps!

W/ sk-6...i still think tht a shims is not necessary. But if u don't feel comfortable...use a shims anyway.
