Broken P180 Piece

Question about a broken piece on my P180

So one of my 120mm fan mounts is broken, the one in the lower chamber next to the PSU.

But I realized...:
... I just looked at the mount, right? And the piece that snapped is the thin piece that is holding on the big fat black piece that goes on the side of the fan. Does that big fat black piece serve any purpose? Because if not then I'll just snap the other thin piece thats holding it on and take it out, because my main worry about the broken piece was that it would rattle like hell.

See that piece on the right? One of the thin parts holding it is what snapped. So does that serve any purpose at all? Should I detach that fat piece? Or would I be better off with paying a forumer for a replacement fan mount?

Why not email Antec and see what they say? It may be cheaper to go through them.

Indeed I did, but it has not been a business day and I felt like asking around to see if anyone had any info before I got a response from Antec. I wasn't going to act on anything until I talked to Antec first.

Go thru Antec but either way you dont really need to use a fan down there. I dont use one and its completely fine.
