Broken headphone jack iphone 4

Friend has a iphone with half the headphone plug in the headphone jack.

Besides taking it apart and replacing the port, any other way to extract that broken piece ?

Thats a tough one. Been trying to think about it.

If it were me, I might try to get a really thin drill bit and try to drill out the center of the jack. Then use a pick or something to see if I could pull it out.

Might also try some super glue. Try putting a small dot on the end of the plug that's out, then push it in and let it sit overnight. Then give it a good yank. I might try that one first.

The second suggestion seems sound.

You can also try with a thin plastic stick (i.e. a qtip without the cotton). If the jack has lost one of the plastic rings it might not reach the broken piece.

I believe objects stuck in the headphone jack are not covered by the warranty.

They can't fix it at apple store. Friend gonna do the crazy glue method. Which super glue is the best? I think it's only one shot. Otherwise I will replace the jack piece

I do not think it matters which one you use. However, you should be VERY careful as to how much you use. Also, while it dries, you should suspend the phone with the jack facing the ground, so any excess glue runs down whatever you stick in there (Bent paperclip? Toothpick?). Otherwise, it may run down the stuck part and glue it to the sidewall of the hole.

It really sounds like it's better to open the case. If you use too much glue or the glue leak to the internal of the phone you might end up with a dead phone.

i would use a very, very small amount of super glue. I mean, just a dab on the end of whatever you use to stick in the headphone jack. Would just give it plenty of time to cure.

got it out, used a wired hanger that was thin enough to slip in the jack, dab of super glue and once it sets, pull it out slowly, took about 5 min of wait time
