Broken hardware

What do you do with your broken or outdated hardware?
Our company is going to have a program promoting environmental awareness and I've been tasked to do a proposal. I saw that we have lots broken and hardware in our storage rooms. I'm thinking of maybe including a way to get rid of them while still being eco-friendly.

You should look for some local recycling companies and have them come remove it or take the parts to them.

I work at a small pc store and we get paid decent money for old pc parts and laptops/computers.

There's a ton of places that are actively looking to give you money for your old stuff. That way your company stays green and also brings in some extra green.

That makes sense. But what do you with the outdated but still working parts or devices? I'm thinking maybe there are some places where they can still use them? That seems more eco-friendly than junking them right away.
Our company is really serious about this. They're even talking about hiring a company for their energy management solutions. Do you think they might know of some way to dispose of those unwanted hardware?

If you are talking old but working computers, mice, keyboards, monitors, etc., I'd just donate them to Goodwill. Your company can take the write off, give themselves a pat on the back for being 'green', and move on.

If we are talking components like NICs, motherboards, hard drives, etc., you could just advertise them for free in the FS/FT sub here. Someone would take them I bet.
