Broken Desktop Icons on Windows 7?

I have several broken icons on my Desktop shortcuts linked to drive that had gone bad. Once I replaced and restored the the drive, the desktop shortcuts work, but display broken (missing icon) image, instead to the correct one. I have tried to recreate the short cuts, and they work as long as they are not on the desktop. Does anyone have any idea of how to fix this? Thanks!

Nevermind, for some reason once I uninstalled/reinstalled the Libre Office help pack, it fixed it! 🙂

for future reference I would just go to the place where it works right click and "create short cut" should conserve the image, but will have a small arrow on bottom right

I didn't intend to suggest it was a problem created by Libre Office, just that whatever happened it fixed the problem. It was actually the help pack for it that I had un/re-installed.

That would look right in the folder, but when I pasted it to the desktop, it had the broken image. I tried "Refresh" on the desktop a number of times, and multiple reboots. Nothing seemed to clear it up.

You needed to delete your icon cache file, and have Windows rebuild it. Apparently, uninstalling that program did the same thing.
