Broken casing around laptop monitor...

My day ended on a wonderful note, and my 5 month old laptop (while in my laptop backpack) fell to the ground. The electronics are all fine, but the casing around the monitor is apparently not very durable and the front plastic around the monitor is no longer sticking to the monitor backing.

I have a request in to Asus to see if they can help from a warranty perspective (at cost I would assume, but I will wait to hear back). I did not pay for the drop and spill coverage, so if Asus declines to help, I figure i need to use something to get the front to stick to the back.

I read a guy suggest epoxy putty, but it appeared he was filling a hole where plastic had broken off completely. And, in seeing what others use epoxy putty for, it seems they wrap it around pipe etc where it hardens in place around the pipe. In my situation, I need to press the front and back together and then hope that the there is enough stickiness/tackiness to keep the two stuck together permanently.

Any recommendations here? Here is the laptop I have:

Photos would be helpful to see what the damage is.

JB Weld or epoxy could most likely do the job.

Sometimes laptop parts are surprisingly expensive and sometimes they are surprisingly cheap. Regardless, it's best to seek them out when they are available. The production runs on them are typically short. The point being that it can sometimes be difficult to find parts on the used market.

The bezels (probably not the correct name for the part) are held on with plastic clips molded into the housing and the bezel. You'd need to find out if the damage is to one or both.

Is there any room between the back of the broken piece and the panel?

If so, I've had success cutting out a piece of thin plastic, and then bonding it to the two pieces as a splint using plastic glue.

This may work. Lid & Bezel from similar Asus laptop.

"Pulled from an F502CA, also may work in some other models.
Includes the front bezel, the back lid, webcam and the wireless antenna"

Check part number on the lid.. If it's 13NB0341AP0131 that cover/assembly fits many of their laptops, from D55 to X55

Here's one complete with hinges..

Did the plastic clips break? Sometime you need to press like a mofo to get those clips to snap back together. Same with taking them apart, some you need to just pry past where you think the plastic will snap in half to get the clips to release.

Some fell out, so they are definitely broke.

I did get a response from Asus, and have come to find out (it was on a sticker on the box too) that my laptop has 1 year of accidental drops and spills coverage. So, it gets sent back to Asus to be repaired by them. If this plays out this easy, I definitely know where I will be getting future laptops from.
