Broken Blu-Rays - PS3?

Anyone heard of a PS3 cracking a movie?

I've had to have Pride and Glory replaced 3 times now in the last week by Netflix for an identical 1/8" crack on the outer edge of the disk. Just went to watch Twilight and Ps3 wouldn't read it, so I pull it out and same 1/8" crack on the outer edge. Seems odd....

I could imagine maybe a bad batch of BluRays for Pride & Glory possibly explaining that, but a brand new disc release like Twilight at the same time?

I've seen a couple blurays like that myself. Just a small crack on the outside edge, and it wouldn't read.

I've gotten one like that from Netflix.

yeah, but have you ever had 1 copy of a movie hat was cracked, get a replacement disk that was cracked, get the replacment for THAT disk and find it was cracked, and then 5 minutes after calling Netflix to ask them to make sure the 4th replacement was fine before it gets sent put in a BRAND NEW release and find out it's cracked?


That's why I worry it's my PS3 doing the cracking....

Its a netflix issue. Happens in mailing. There was a huge discussion over a year ago at AVS forums. No surprise netflix hasn't done anything to fix this yet.

hmm, well some reading on DVDTalk shows that this is pretty common.

Blu-rays don't easily scratch, but your mailperson can still try to bend the envelope in half.

I've gotten 1-2 blu discs like that over the last 2 years, but my PS3 has never harmed a disc itself.

why of course it does, its all part of sonys diabolical plan to destroy bluray!

I received Quantum of Solace on Blu-Ray from netflix today - the envelope has some creases in it but the disc arrived perfectly safe.

And after running through my PS3 it still looks like new.
