Broken Blender?

Several of the rubber teeth on the bottom part of the blender seem to have sheered off. The ice defeated them, I guess. Anyway, those teeth are what spin the blade part. And like, 3 out of the 6 broke off. Why would they make such a crucial part out of rubber instead of metal?

I'm going to give this post about 3 minutes to tell me if this is fixable, then I'm going to buy a new blender.

They make them out of rubber as a sacrificial part. The rubber gives before you burn out the motor or bend/break the blades. Your manufacturer should be able to get you a new piece. This is a common tactic used wherever you have a motor driving something. A flexible coupling between the two elements that acts as a sacrificial protective device.
 
I went and got a new blender. Apparently it was the nicest one that anyplace had. I tried Walmart, Target and Sears. It was like $100 or so. It's the exact same one that I had. It even has a 1 year warranty. Unfortunately it broke within 5 minutes of using it, so I guess I'll go tommorow for a refund.

Take the good rubber piece from the new one, sub it with the old one, return the new one, problem solved. You have your old blender with the new rubber part. Only out gas money to the store.

I got the impression that those Osters and Black and Deckers are cheap blenders. If this second kitchenaid fails, I'm going to try the $300 one at William-Sonoma.
