Broken Battery Prong

Snapped off the battery prong while removing old battery. Any suggestions on a fix?


Figured I'd solder a wire to the "stub" of the old prong to the battery itself if need to.

You'd want to be very careful trying to solder anything to the battery. You would probably blow it up if it got too hot. Better to try to solder the prong back in place after the battery is in. You could use a small bit of electrical or duct tape to hold it onto the battery. However, you might as well "bite the bullet" and start saving for a new board. Any fix will most likely be a temporary solution at best.
BTW, you are not alone. I did this once myself (long ago). Really embarrassing.

Not a bad idea. I'm actually thinking my wife's hot glue gun would be useful for securing the battery in its holder.

The prong broke cleanly, not even a "stub" per say....so not much to solder. I think a quick drop of solder on the battery top won't be enough to heat the battery too much.

Yeah, it's a dumb thing to do. Amazing how that prong is such a weak link!
