Broken AVI question

I have a file that works for the first half, but then the sound becomes corrupt. Using VirtualDub, I pulled out the video, which is flawless, but it won't pull out the sound because it stops as soon as it gets an error. Is there a way to force it to continue extracting the sound, or is there some other program I can use?

Never mind... the other apps I tried just gave me silence after a few skipped frames. I guess it is SERIOUSLY corrupted.

I believe it would depend on the audio codec used to determine whether or not the audio after the corruption would be recoverable, if it was a progressive codec that relies on earlier frames I doubt you'll get anything.
