Broken antenna, will Ipod transmitter work?

I'm buying my grandmom's old car, but its antenna is broken (like... hanging off the car). It doesn't get any radio signal. This means that a radio transmitter on an Ipod will not work, correct? Or is the transmitter strong enough that the car will still be able to receive signal even with a damaged antenna?

Based on the info you have provided thus far, I suggest you fix the antenna on granny's car.

Get one of those FM modulators that'll plug into the back of the head unit where the antenna would go.

Considering I'll never listen to the radio, I wasn't going to get the antenna fixed if it wasn't needed. I don't actually have the car in my possession yet, but I will soon. The antenna is a retractable one (very expensive... 200$ or so was the estimate the dealer gave me to replace it), so I think I'm just going to buy a straight antenna online and install it myself. Hopefully the antenna's motor and whatnot is easily accessible so I can swap it. :/
