Broke the LCD screen on my phone, what can I do?

I am on a 1-year contract with Verizon, 2-3 months into it. I have a Samsung A530. I accidentally slept on my phone, and now the inside LCD screen is broken. What is the best course of action to take?

- Will Samsung help me at all in terms of replacing the LCD? Obviously they won't do it for free though.
- If I need to buy a new phone, will I have to pay full charge (as in the amount you would pay for a phone without activation), or will Verizon help me out in that regard?
- Can I buy another year of contract, effectively extending my Verizon contract by a year and allowing me to get a new phone at w/1 year activation prices?

TIA!

if you had phone insurance through veriozon then np...
otherwise you are responisible for getting a new phone.

1 & 2, more than likely no. That's just like you lost your phone or you're buying a brand new one. 3 is more of a possibility.

They won't typically replace the LCD screen as it's extremely expensive. But you may be able to get them to give you a refrubished one if you send in your old one and pay a certain fee.

Yes, you will have to pay the full amount.

No

Unrelated question, but can you buy a service plan/insurance for your phone after the start of your contract (let's say midway through)?

Yes, you can add insurance at any time, although there is often a waiting time until you can submit a claim. If your phone is functional without the LCD, you might be able to get away with it.

My wife lost her phone and we didn't have insurance. We ended up buying a new one on ebay, and it worked perfectly. Much cheaper than new.

call and get insurance on it, they will more than likely call your phone to see if it is in currently working condition, then activate it. wait a few days then call in.

my phone broke, didnt have insurance, called and got it activated, got it to work to accept their call then it got turned on waited a few days then called but i effed up by telling them the day it broke was the day before my insurance was turned on, stupid on my part but try that...

same thing kinda happened with me..

I had a nextel i95cl and the flip part of the phone broke.. but i could still use the phone in speakerphone mode..

I added insurance, made some phone calls with it to look like it was still working, then I called up and said the phone broke

had a replacement phone the next day

I think it was like 30 bucks to replace it and $4/month for the insurance

look online and see if someone has a replacement lcd for your phone....cellphoneshop.net maybe.
