U should have soldered the staple to the cpu, now that would have been funny.
He did a nice job, sure looks straighter than some of the other pins on that cpu

It's probably the angle but the pins are a lot straighter then when I first fubar'd my cpu (didn't lock it down before putting on hsf...doh). Cpu slides into slot perfectly now.

I did this with a straight pins back in the Turion days. I got a little carried away trying to do the pin-mod, and broke a needed one off. I cut down the straight pin with the head sticking out, and it worked perfectly until I upgrade to an AthlonXP.

I never did get my CPU back from him. He returned with no attempt to repair it and I contacted him and he said send it back he would tkae care of it. That was about 2 months ago. I guess I need to take a more active approach as emailing is obviously not working.
You guys are more than welcome to contact me. I would be willing to fix your busted off CPU pins for the simple price of shipping both ways.
Just for the record, I have experience in the Rework and Repair of PCA's for Plexus Corp. in excess of 8 years. I can replace/reball BGA's, remove and replace QFP's and simple IC's, pad and trace repair, etc, etc. I was involved in the training department for some time but have now taken over the role of Engineering Support for the time being. With that said, I still have access to all the equipment necessary for the repairs.
Just lemme know if interested via my e-mail in my profile. Please keep in mind though if too many requests come through I will be forced to charge a nominal fee.
