just happened to check my cpu temp and it was up around 48-49c (650E @ 920 - 1.8v) - almost 10c above where it normally is - thought sh!t must not have plugged the fan in all the way 2 DAYS AGO (machine's been running most of that time - with some Q3 action thrown in), when i was testing an old cpu. popped the side and sure enough fan wasn't on and the gorb was WARM. i have a slow spinning 120mm fan in a case hole on the side that puts a nice gentle breeze over the agp slot and most of the cpu - thank the good lord.

moral of the story - who needs a stinkin' fan on the heatsink!

Well Fan HELPS keep things much cooler! But you had the side fan going which helped it to cool the heatsink, but without it you would be looking at something like high 50C early 60C. If you had the fan going then it would be much better! And the CPU would be much happier!

SKY.

The Moral of this story is partyl right and partly wrong! Right yes a large heatsink will keep stuff cool, but without a fan it is not as effective!
