Broke my Wii. How lenient is Nintendo's warranty repair service?

Fell off the table and there's a visible crack on the case.
It boots and all the channel features work fine, except for the most important one. It won't read any dicsc, Wii or GC.

Think they'll be nice and send me a replacement if I call them up? 🙂

I doubt it if you tell them the truth. Accidental damage isn't usually covered by warranties. Might get them to repair it though...

Good luck.

open that sucker up and see if a cable to the DVD drive came loose. May need a triwing screwdriver though. sometimes things just come loose after a fall and become easy fixes. But if not... it never hurts to ask Nintendo; they might work with you.

call them up and ask? they are prett good. I purchased a game at target. turns out the game was a copy not an orginal BUT nintendo still sent me a new one!.

It sounds like a laser-related problem anyway since it's not reading discs.

Sounds like a plan. I was afraid it would void the now-useless warranty if I opened it up.
So I'll call them up to see what they say, and if I get denied, I'll open it up.

Warranties cover manufacturing defects. Impacting your floor is not a manufacturing defect. I think it's pretty unlikely that they'll fix it for free.

How did that happen? 😕

Someone probably bought the game, replaced it with a counterfeit, re-shrinkwrapped it and returned it.

It's amazing what you see people do if you ever work a clip in retail. It's not uncommon for some people to actually own their own packaging machines that will return the item to unopened condition (hell, the wrap plus a heat gun works fine on some packages). A lot of scammers make very good money returning items that look unopened (with something false on the inside) and then selling the contents on eBay or keeping them.

A simple blow-dryer will work as well. Don't really need the heat gun even.

Also true.

Did you save the box and packaging? If so, buy a new one, and a few days later return the old unit in its box saying it doesnt work. Winner!

Congrats - You won a two week all expense cruise.
