Broke my v551

I dropped it down a flight of concrete stairs and the top broke completely away from the bottom.
So it's toast. And I got mad and punched something very solid😱. It was stupid and I regret it.

Any recommendations on a new cell phone? What do you use? I liked my V551, but I am now too scared to have a flip phone again. I am with cingular and am going month to month, no contract.
$200 or under price wise.
Thanks guys.

I have a motorola e815 but it won't work for you since it's outside your budget range and it is a flip phone. I guess in your case I'd look at either one of the Kyocera slider type phones or get an old school Nokia brick.

Dang... flip phones are that fragile? I've had Motorola (Nextel) flip phones my entire life, and I've yet to break one, and they've seen horrible abuse. I've even seen them been run over (while open), and not break.

The two pieces of the phone look great. I guess it hit the concrete open and just popped the top off and tore the strip that connect to two pieces. I dunno I couldn't see it fall really.

My V525 was dropped many times, and even survived being thrown across the room by a 2 year old. If the Razr had edge, I'd still have a flip.

I'm going to see if I can get it repaired. The ribbon cable broke, but the rest of the phone looks good. There is a repair place here in town. Lucky me it broke so close to Labor Day. Guess I will have to wait until Tuesday.

you can buy the parts you need off the internet... i know that you can get a replacement housing, and i'm pretty sure you can get a new ribbon cable.

I've personally changed the housing on a couple v551's (my own included) and it's really not all that hard, you just have to be patient.

www.cnn.cn is the site where you can get the housing, and they don't list a ribbon cable for the v551, but they have one for the v500, but i haven't taken out and looked at the ribbon of my v551 long enough to tell you if it's the same cable (some parts for many of the vXXX series phones are interchangable)

Hmm...

I recently had my Nokia 6600 stolen.. Got a replacement Motorola V331, which is a 551 in a 330 housing, for $100 from Walmart...

But this won't work for you... I am on Tmobile, so I bought a Tmobile to go phone.. Called Customer service and had em push my account info to the new Sim card.. 5 mins and I was back in business...

The damn phone was locked to Tmobile though.. Does Cingular have a prepaid wireless like Tmobile to go? Maybe that would work for ya?
