Generic memory broke.

Is it safe for me to be using my 64mb 100mhz memory with my 133 fsb athlon chip? Even if though the clock setting for the Dram is left at Host CLK (there is no option for lowered value)

And vice versa would it be ok to use a 133 mhz memory with a dated 100 mhz fsb chip?

The first question sounds a little sketchy, effectively you would be overclocking your memory by 1/3. some memory can handle that some can't. The answer to the second question is yes, it would be okay to have PC133 run at 100 MHz FSB. It doesn't mind being underclocked at all. Crucial has some great prices on their website.

Yeah, Crucial is da best. You might with a good mem manufacturer (Like Crucial) be able to run PC100@PC133, but with generic, never. Yes you shouldn't have a problem running PC133@PC100.

I bought some memory from this company called premiersystem.com but I think they are now "memory suppliers" (find it on pricewatch.com)...they have 256mb stick of pc133 cas 2 (guaranteed compatible with all intel/ amd systems) and I have mine oc'd to 146mhz cas2 and 4-way on...for 38 dollars w/ 4.95 shipping...also have 128mb sticks for 19 dollars w/ same shipping price...

crucial is good to, but this stuff seems to be as good as my infineon cas 2 memory and its good price...

The thing is I don't want to over clock the generic one that I'm currently using till the good ram comes. It's the only option avaible under the bios. There is no way to pick any other option. I'm confused to why a abit wouldn't allow 100mhz memory usable with 133 mhz fsb... or simply it's auto adjusted so a 100mhz under the current setting would still be compatible with the Host Clk setting.

I know someone has done this before, so speak up.
