Seem Cheaper Than Dirt has a storefront, wandered over & they had some Yugoslavian SKS's for $98. Have always kicked myself for not buying one when they were $80, so I grabbed one. & some cheap ammo...

Haven't had a project gun since I put together my AR15:D :D :D

Nice -- Their site is huge. I considered getting a bunch of the 9mm Wolf ammo for practice at one point but got a little nervous about it and ended up buying Winchester or Remington from Walmart locally instead. Some of their surplus gun prices are insane - enjoy the SKS!

SKSs are great guns, not sure of the Yugoslavian ones, but the Russian ones i shot were excelent quality.

sweet! Nice rifles. Ive shot the russian and chinease variants. I liked the russian much better. I think though that the wolf ammo is very dirty ammo. It works fine, but it would dirty up the gun in a hurry. If you find some cleaner stuff, let me know. happy shooting.

Laquer primers. Very gummy, but it's cheap. Steel cased too. As long as you are using it in an SKS or some SAR it'll be fine, it's just a bit crappy to clean.

Do you know of any ammo that wont gunk up the gun so easily?

Sellier & Bellot tends to be a lot cleaner than Wolf IMO. Czech made stuff rather than Russian.
