Broke a pin on my p4 1.8A, would intel warrant that.

I was trying to put the cpu in the socket 478, wasn't going in. i tried to force it and in doing so i bent few pins.

i was trying to straighten them up but i kinda pushed a little hard i guess, and broke one of the pins.

does anybody know if intel would warrant that damage.

thanks.

If it doesnt go in easy your doing something wrong. I also apply this rule to "dating"😉

If it's a retail chip, you can try. If OEM, forget it. Normally they won't cover something you destroyed, but you may get a CSR that's having a good day.

Good luck!

You may have a decent chance if it was a retail chip, say that the pins got bent in shipping and while straightening, one broke. I just RMA'd a 1900 Socket 478 P4 that died in my VapoChill OCed to 2500Mhz, Intel made the mistake of sending me back 2 brand new Retail boxed Socket 478 1900 P4's, I sold them both and bought a 2.0A Northwood and a 1.8A Northwood that are OCed to 2800Mhz in my VapoChill and 2400Mhz with air cooling, both in Abit TH7-2 motherboards. Good Luck, I hope they send you a new chip.
