Broke 2 pins off on CPU

I'm pretty sure something like this can be fixed, the pins are on an outside corner. Does anyone know someon in the DFW area that can fix this for cheap? I would try, but like Sony says, Caucasians are just to damn tall to do such intricate work.

No, and your racial comment is unappreciated.

i don't know if it's just because i had distributor connections, but my store has RMA'd CPUs with bent pins. I don't know about broken ones though.

Thanks for the replies. As far as the "racial" comment, it's from the movie Crazy People. I suggest you grow thicker skin and learn to detect sarcasm.

Check the pinouts at Intel or AMD's site. If they are ground pins try the chip.

If they are not grounds, contact http://www.motherboardrepair.com/

The replacement pins will be silver in color, not gold plated. This guy is The Man
for re-pinning a CPU.

I second this. While I've never had to use this guy, I've read nothing but great things about his work.

Oh BTW, just ignore cmdrdredd. Not sure any sane person could take offense to it. I actually thought the comment was quite humorous.

Hi, If those pins are one on each of two corners then they may have never been there. Older processors left off one pin on one corner to act as a "KEY" so you couldn't put it in wrong. Later ones (Socket 478 etc) left off one on each of two corners. Look again. Do you see a tiny gold colored dot where the missing pins used to be? MAYBE!

Good Luck, Jim
