Broadcast TV/PVR150

I have both my TV and PVR150 connected to the same antenna, but the picture delivered by either are not even close to equal. However, neither is necessarily superior, because it depends on the channel. on one channel, the PVR150 may have a near perfect picture, while the TV is nothing but snow. Yet, on another channel, this is just the reverse, except the PVR150 merely has a black screen. Adjusting the antenna doesn't change this. Together, I can get all of the channels okay, but this is both an annoyance, and if I want to record a broadcast on certain channels, a headache.

I tried adding an amplifier from Radio Shack once, but it just made things worse. Is there a solution for this...besides getting cable, etc.

Understood. But since both are connected to the same antenna, wouldn't the range to the station and signal strength effect both the TV's and PVR150's reception equally? I would understand, if either the TV or the PVR150 was always better than the other, but they seem directly opposite to each other in this aspect.
