If anyone has a good isp with nice ping times and speed, let me know. I have access to DSL/Cable right now. I just found out that my DSL provider who jumped ship is selling our accounts to telocity. If I dont change providers within 3 days, Ill be paying $50 a month for 640/90 ADSL service and getting to use this lovely USB gateway piece of crap. Anyone with advice let me know.

Being in O.C. I would guess that PACBELL would be available to you. :) 1.2M/128k - $39

It was Phoenix DSL, it was great except the ping times for DSL sucked. Their backbone was weak, my avg ping was in the ~120's. It was 784/784 sdsl for 39 a month :) I kinda want something with a half decent upload speed if possible.

Telocity is not that bad. My friend who works at a law firm in the Palo Alto area is doing some paper work for Telocity. As a gift, they gave everyone in the firm free Telocity DSL service. I tried it and it works great.

How are the ping times? I just got off the phone with Telocity and after a bunch of b!tching, they are gonna let me keep my 784 sdsl speed for the same price, but I still have to use that Gateway port thingy.

jimmygates: Can you tell me some more about the gateway thing?

RoadRunner cable (TimeWarner). I dunno though, I'm in NY (not NYC) so I'm not sure if it's available to you. :)

Comcast@home would be great if not for the constant outages. I have 2400/800 up/down and ping times that average anywhere from 60 to 90ms. Its $40 which isn't bad at all, but it goes out at least twice a day!

I also have comcast, but my upload is only 128kps. What state are you in?

The reason I dont want cable that much is because I had it, and they capped it at 128kb upload.
