Is broadband wireless internet access any good for gaming, or, like satellite, is it susceptible to high pings?

If you're talking about the "dish" it only downloads at those sweet speeds.
You still need a modem to upload. Horrible for games. Great for files.

Satellite services do not always require a phoneline to upload. Some satellite systems provide both up and down. I was looking at one recently that offers up to 750k down, and 150k up... and runs 79.95 a month... For now, I will stick to cable.. :)

you still have the ~1/2 second delay on sending information up to the satellite

I don't think he's talking about satelite, not sure what it's called besides wireless internet though. My town wants to setup wireless internet and I heard it takes $30,000 to get everything started and then $10,000 for every relay station within so many miles.

Not sure how it is for gaming, but my boss uses it at his house and get's around 75kb/sec downloading his pr0n.

Here we have a company offering microwave burstable T1 for $250 setup and $175/month with 14 IP addresses....perhaps this is what he is talking about.

Hey Chris, you're talking about Lightspeed right? I called 'em up and they didn't want to go into much detail about it. I know bluestar.net has business DSL here in Columbus now. I also heard thay Ma Bell is coming down veteran's parkway installing DSL DSLAM's getting ready to roll out residential DSL.

I meant the wireless internet, not satellite. It's coming soon around here and I wondered if you got really bad pings like satellite. I guess it's basically a 2-way radio for your computer. I was hoping the pings would be better since the signal doesn't have to travel 26,000 miles up and down like satellites.

Wireless doesn't sound stable enough for me. You'll get better download/upload with a cable modem, plus weather won't be a factor.

Where would I go to look for something like this? If I did this, & then used one of the internet phone services... I could get a free T1 out of the deal!
