I am interested in finding out what are some good isps that ppl would recommend in the Ottawa area. I am currently with sympatico but the speeds are way too slow (about 2mbps ). Also need one with no upload or download caps.

Thanks

apparently i can't get Ultra so i am on Regular (3mbps) but definitely not getting that most downloads are in the 1.2Mb/s range

Download speeds are going to be affected by a lot of things besides your direct connection. Try a speed test like the following: http://www.bandwidthplace.com/speedtest/

But if you can't get Ultra, then the signs are that the local phone cabling is the problem -- you're probably not going to do much better with other DSL ISP's. You could try the local cable monopoly.

Verizon DSL in the states doesn't have any (quantity) caps that I know of. Have no idea if they are available in Canada or not.
