Britney Spears enters rehab

LOS ANGELES (AP) ? Britney Spears is finally getting help. Her manager tells People magazine's Web site Spears checked herself into rehab but he won't say where.

He says Spears and her family and friends ask for privacy. The web site TMZ says Spears has entered an inpatient facility in Los Angeles after family members urged her to go.

Meanwhile, the owners of the salon where Spears shaved her head have set up a Web site to sell the hair, complete with hair extensions. The winning bidder at BuyBritneysHair-dot-com also gets the clippers, the Red Bull Spears was drinking and her cigarette lighter. Opening bid is one million dollars.

Part of the proceeds will go to charity and the salon owners promise the winner can be anonymous or they can publicize it like crazy.

Britney Spears checked into rehab last night (20.02.07).

The 25-year-old singer admitted herself into California's Promises Malibu Treatment Center following concerns for her erratic behaviour.

Her manager Larry Rudolph confirmed: "Britney Spears has voluntarily checked herself into a rehab facility. We ask that the media respect her privacy as well as those of her family and friends at this time."

Rudolph did not disclose what Britney was being treated for.

Britney's treatment is said to involve an immediate detox with 24-hour supervision, followed by intense therapy sessions.

US reports claim the 'Toxic' singer has allegedly taken cocaine, ecstasy and prescription drugs.

Britney's decision to seek help follows a wild weekend where she shaved her head, got two new tattoos and was seen partying while wearing different wigs.

Last week, she visited Eric Clapton's Crossroads Centre in Antigua, but left rehab after less than 24 hours.

Britney checked herself into the in-patient facility after her father Jamie reportedly begged her to get help on Sunday (18.02.07).

A source told Us Weekly magazine: "Jamie just told Britney how much he loves her and that he wants her to get help. He told her that he's afraid for her safety and that she needs to take a look at her life and make some major changes or everything is going to get worse."
