Restaurants are usually the first things celebs open.

They're usually the first thing they lose millions on as well.

The business is very competitive, especially when you're in NYC (VERY high overhead and operating costs).

Well, maybe not directly...
But I don't see any other reason for her to open a restaurant and promote herself... boosting sales of albums, mercahndise, etc... hence, making more money.
