LONDON, Oct 16 ? More than half of Britons could have breath that smells worse than their pet?s, according to a survey released Thursday. And women are the worst offenders, with three out of five failing a sulfur emissions test, according to research by toothpaste manufacturer Aquafresh.

Emissions test is funny. However, that Aquafresh toothpaste sucks. And bad breath isn't caused by insufficient brushing (pets example, they never brush their teeth at all, but don't smell as bad). It's stomach and other various digestion system problems that cause bad breath. more likely. So to speak, if a man with bad breath brushes his teeth, it won't go away. Gotta look somewhere else for the reason.

if that is so why do 100% of secretaries pass?

What causes bad teeth? It's not the country where one lives. It's the food one eats and drinks, how natural it is and the quantity of sugars and poisons in it, mainly, and bad habits (for example, smoking literally destroys one's teeth more than anything else).

and,

Good GAWD you are just a pile of misinformation, aren't you???

First, what causes bad teeth? The number one cause is poor oral hygiene. The second cause is no fluoride in the public water supply. The third cause is poor diet: No, not too much sugar, but malnutrition.

Actually, I read a study recently that showed sugar to be far less harmful to the teeth than starchy foods... but that's neither here nor there, as what foods you eat will matter very little so long as you practice good oral hygiene.

Smokers can have great teeth if they have good oral hygiene. It's their GUMS that suffer.

Second, what causes bad breath? The number one cause of chronic bad breath is sulfur emitting bacteria lining the tongue. This is why most bad breath smells the same among so many different people. The second leading cause is gum disease, and THEN we have the occasional gastric acid breath or breath tied to strong foods.

From my own personal crusade to identify my cause of bad breath i can say that 99% of it is from the tongue. Brushing teeth does damn near nothing in keeping one's breath good. When I brush my tongue (especially in the morning!) It's like I've been sucking on egg yolks. Unfortunately keeping these bacteria at bay is very difficult, even with special anti-bad breath toothpastes that are aimed to do just that. www.smilekiss.com sells some.

Yep, it's a constant battle. The best thing to do is use a tongue scraper to reach as far back as you can on your tongue and expose the bacteria to air (that kills them) three or four times a day. There is also a special mouth wash that kills the bacteria. I forget what it is called, though.

It wont even phase them unless you scrape the protective layer covering them off of your tongue, far back in your mouth/throat.

Listerine is your friend.

Again, Listerine does NOTHING to kill the sulfur emitting bacteria on the base of your tongue. You first have to disturb the protective layer covering them.

You saying all those Brits have some condition that can't let them get rid of halitosis? Nobody I know has terminal bad breath.
