If hte British have it you KNOW the US has had it for the last ten or so years. Not to sound arrogant but the US Defense budget is a greater percentage of our total tax revenue than almost any other country in the world (except China, I think) and definitely moreso than any other country into europe.

And under Bush it won't get any smaller...

I was watching a show on future weapons and they stated that it is thought that the British are the first to come up with a production model of the EMP bomb. Russia (who were the first to investigate the EMP) was working on such a weapon but they have little money for research now a days. The principles of the EMP were found as a side effect of the dropping of nukes (an EMP shockwave was emmited after the explosions).

I loved that book, go get Ender's Shadow too if you read Ender's Game because it gives an alternate storyline. I've read the whole series...

Another fun way to get Electro Magnetic Pulse is to air-burst a nuclear weapon.
Just detonate high above your city of choice, and all electrical systems from wristwatches to hospitals (yes, cars too) come to a screeching halt.
Then you can nuke the city or simply leave them in a state of total panic... or whatever.
