British and the left side

I've always wondered this.

I know that the British drive foward on the left side of the road. Americans drive on the right.

In terms of our walking, I've noticed that generally Americans walk forward on the right side of a sidewalk, or stairs, or malls. Do the British typically walk on the left side?

I've never been to England. So I'm genuinely curious
